Notes of Thanks and Support

A word of thanks from Ashley

Dear Donors,

I want to send a sincere thank you to everyone who has contributed their hard work and assistance to this project. It is nice to know that there are so many people willing to help with their donations of money and time. It is almost impossible to express how much this lane-gate “tech” system will maximize my time and independence in the pool once it is fully developed. No longer will I need to coordinate schedules with and rely on the human tapper when I know this system will do the job; never missing a tap, always there. Just as any sighted competitive swimmer can swim to one end of the pool, flip, swim back and continue that pattern throughout their workout, this system will allow me to do the same.
I truly enjoyed promoting this product on film and being part of Notre Dame’s fighting spirit. I felt honored to share a bit of my past and my love of the sport of swimming with so many viewers and Notre Dame fans. Not only will this device help me; I feel that it will motivate other people who may never have thought of swimming competitively because of their blindness or visual impairment. This device can help them swim ad comfortably as their sighted peers.
Again, thank you for all you have done. I greatly appreciate your support of our swimming program.

                                                                                                                     Truly,

                                                                                                                     Ashley Nashleanas

Irish Aquatics Masters/Paralympics (IAMP) Is A Non-Profit Organization

IAMP swimming is an organized program for sighted and blind athletes 18 and over. Members participate in a variety of ways ranging from recreational lap swimming to international competition. IAMP needs donors to help our three blind teammates from the Notre Dame Community. James Fetter, Ashley Nasheanas and Lori Miller all train at Notre Dame with IAMP and have participated in the testing of the Adapttap assistive device. Adapttap is a patented mechanical tapper device developed through the collaborative endeavors of IAMP and the Notre Dame Industrial Design Department. IAMP hopes to raise $50,000 to complete production and testing of market-ready devices.
At this time, volunteers have been working tirelessly and we need your support.
